Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2026

The CAPF (ACs) Examination 2026 is conducted by UPSC for recruitment to the post of Assistant Commandants (AC) in various forces under the Central Armed Police Forces.

This examination is held to select dynamic and capable candidates (both male and female) for leadership roles in India’s paramilitary forces. Selection is done through a multi-stage process, including:

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure consists of:

  1. Written Examination
    The written exam will be conducted on 19 July 2026.
  2. Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency Tests
    Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for physical tests.
  3. Interview / Personality Test
    Final stage for candidates clearing previous rounds.

Written Examination Pattern

The written examination consists of two papers:

Paper I – General Ability and Intelligence (Objective Type)

Includes topics such as:

  • Modern Indian History (especially the Freedom Struggle)
  • Geography
  • Polity and Economy
  • Security and Human Rights
  • Analytical Ability

Paper II – General Studies, Essay & Comprehension (Conventional Type)

  • Essay writing
  • Comprehension passages
  • Précis writing
  • Counter-arguments
  • English language skills (attempted in English only)

Eligibility Criteria and Required Documents

  1. Nationality
    Candidate must be: A citizen of India
    (Subject of Nepal or Bhutan may be eligible with the Central Government consent)
  2. Educational Qualification
    • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is mandatory.
    • Candidates appearing in their final year may also apply, but they must produce proof of passing before the prescribed deadlines
    • Professional and technical degrees recognized by the Government are also acceptable.
    • Valid proof includes:
      • Degree Certificate
      • Educational qualification certificates
      • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS, if applicable)
      • Income & Asset Certificate for EWS (if applicable)
      • Photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID/PAN/Passport/Driving License, etc.)
      • Scanned photograph and signature as per the prescribed size
    • Age Limit: 20 to 25 years.
      The candidate must be between 20 to 25 years as on 1st August 2026.
